Maria Vlachaki M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Maria Vlachaki obtained her Medical Degree from the University of Athens and her Doctorate of Philosophy in molecular cancer biology and gene therapy from the University of Crete in Greece. She completed residencies in Internal Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, New York and Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
She has served in various leadership positions in the United States and Canada and has an Executive Master in Business Administration Degree from the University of Houston, Texas. Also, she has served as Clinical Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of British Columbia in Canada.
She has conducted laboratory research on cancer immunotherapy and gene therapy, and clinical research on safe implementation and quality assurance of novel radiotherapy technologies such as Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery. She currently practices radiation oncology at Ascension/St John Health System in Michigan and her special interests include breast and central nervous system malignancies.
